Hi and Welcome! I am honoured to be considered as a Doula for you. I am a certified Doula with Pain Free Birth. I am also currently doing a placement at a breastfeeding clinic as I work toward becoming an IBCLC. I am not able to provide clinical services, but I am able to share so much about how to get off to a great start – which I include in session #3! Lastly, I am a former practicing RMT and I use that background knowledge to serve my clients. Below is a little snapshot as to what to expect while I serve you! Session 1-3 and the postpartum visit are roughly around 70 minutes.
Initial Consult
This consult can be done over facetime, zoom, or over the phone. I find out a little bit about your and what kind of experience you are looking for in a birth. We also go over what to expect and what not to expect from my services. If you would like to hire me, we move onto our first meeting!
Session #1
This is where we meet face to face! I get to find out all about you! We talk about your dreams, fears, and expectations for birth. I recommend that this session be done in person and the rest can be done via zoom if you so choose. Keep in mind, zoom is not able to encapsulate the fullness of human connection. Therefore, the more in person sessions we have, the greater impact my resources will have on your experience.
Session #2
This is a heavy session filled with lots of information on physiological birth. What does an undisturbed, physiological birth look like, and the hormonal and instinctual benefits of a physiological birth. I give you resources so you can protect and aid these processes and strive to have a peaceful experience.
Session #3
We talk about the practical pain management you can do, avoid tearing & harsh pushing practices, what to pack in your hospital bag, and lastly, some crucial breastfeeding education that can help set you up for success.
During Your Birth
This is where we put it all together! I am confident that with the resources I share and the development of your own knowledge and advocacy, this will carry you through your labour to have a beautiful and peaceful birth.
Postpartum
Here’s the best part. I am committed to you, not just before birth and during the birth but also after! I come within 24 hours to check up on you and see how you’re doing. I come with a warm meal, intention to fold laundry or tidy, along with provide guidance on breastfeeding.
What makes me different?
- I truly care about women achieving a peaceful birth – even when interventions are needed! Birth evolves differently for each mother, but there is always one stipulation for each of them and that’s that they are respected!
- I am just as passionate about breastfeeding as I am about birth. Difficulties breastfeeding can make the beginning months of motherhood feel torturous. I provide crucial education on how to prevent breastfeeding struggles after birth and how to soar on your breastfeeding journey in the months to come.
- I practiced massage therapy for 6 years before closing that chapter of my life and becoming a mother. In those years, I am experienced and proficient in providing a safe and comfortable space for vulnerable clients.
